Getting Your Prescriptions During Civil Unrest

A declaration of emergency has been declared in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Virginia. Demonstrations, vandalism, looting, and arson continue to affect some – although not most – local businesses, including pharmacy locations. The State Health Plan would like to make members aware that CVS Pharmacy is taking steps to ensure medication delivery in affected areas.

Medicare Advantage Plans Transition to Humana

Planning is under way for the State Health Plan’s recently announced transition to Humana for the Medicare Advantage plans. This is not effective until January 1, 2021. Medicare Advantage members will continue their current benefits with UnitedHealthcare for the remainder of this year.

State Health Plan Awards Medicare Advantage Plan Contract to Humana

State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, and the State Health Plan have announced that Humana has been awarded the contract for its Medicare Advantage Plan. The contract will provide Medicare Advantage products to the Plan’s Medicare-eligible members with services starting January 1, 2021.

State Health Plan Board Approves Emergency Authority to Respond to COVID-19

State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, announced March 13, 2020, that the State Health Plan Board of Trustees authorized the Treasurer and executive administrator to take actions within their authority to preemptively address and quickly respond to COVID-19 for the benefit of Plan members without consultation with the Board. Attention State Health Plan UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Members

This week, media outlets have reported that various anesthesiologists affiliated with American Anesthesiology of North Carolina, the Mednax-affiliated provider of anesthesia, pain management and critical care in the Triangle, will no longer be in-network under UnitedHealthcare.

This does not impact members on the State Health Plan's UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Plans.
