The State Health Plan (Plan) is aware that Humana mailed letters sharing that WakeMed and ECU Health (including Vidant, University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, Inc.) has announced that it will be out-of-network for Humana members beginning October 30, 2023 for WakeMed patients, and January 1, 2024 for ECU patients.
The Plan understands that the announcement may be concerning to our Humana Group Medicare Advantage Plan members. As a reminder, the Humana Group Medicare Advantage Plan in which you are currently enrolled features a passive network, which means members can enjoy seeing providers in or out-of-network, including ECU Health, with no difference in benefits.
This means that you do not need to find a new provider and you can continue seeing your WakeMed and/or ECU Health provider and facilities. WakeMed and ECU Health will continue to file your claims on your behalf, and you will see no change in your coverage. We hope this clarifies the situation for you and puts you at ease.
