ALL active and non-Medicare members, including dependents, will be moved to the Base PPO Plan (70/30) effective January 1, 2024. You will see this change when you log in to eBenefits, the Plan’s enrollment system, during Open Enrollment.

You MUST take action during Open Enrollment if you want to enroll in the Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20) and reduce your premium by completing the tobacco attestation in either the Base PPO Plan (70/30) or Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20). Open Enrollment ends October 27.

The Base PPO Plan (70/30) remains premium-free for non-Medicare subscribers in the Retirement Systems and does not require a tobacco attestation to reduce the premium. The tobacco attestation applies to non-Medicare subscribers in the Retirement Systems who want to enroll in the Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20) and reduce their monthly premium.

Medicare members, IF YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THE PLAN IN WHICH YOU ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED, NO ACTION IS REQUIRED.
All members currently enrolled in the Humana Medicare Advantage (Base or Enhanced) Plan will REMAIN on that plan for 2024. Our Humana Group Medicare Advantage Plans have a benefit value equivalent to a 90/10 plan, and nearly 90% of our eligible members are enrolled in one of them!

All members currently enrolled in the Base PPO Plan (70/30) administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) will REMAIN on that plan for 2024.

If you want to change plans or need to make changes regarding your dependents, you will need to take action during Open Enrollment. If you have non-Medicare Primary dependents on your plan, they have different options: the Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20) and the Base PPO Plan (70/30). If they are currently enrolled in the Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20), they will be moved to the Base PPO Plan (70/30) for the 2024 benefit year. You will need to take action during Open Enrollment if your non-Medicare Primary dependents want to be enrolled in the Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20) for the 2024 benefit year.

Here’s a handy checklist to get you through Open Enrollment:

  • Read your 2024 Open Enrollment Decision Guide. It only takes a few minutes!
  • Participate in a webinar regarding Open Enrollment. These webinars will review your 2024 options, discuss benefit changes, and offer the opportunity to ask questions. Reserve your spot in the webinar by clicking here
  • Review your dependent situation and prepare to make changes, if necessary. For example, if you are adding a new dependent, you will need to provide required documentation and will be prompted during Open Enrollment to upload that documentation. You may find it helpful to prepare needed documents ahead of time. Visit www.shpnc.org for a list of required documentation you will need.
  • Log into eBenefits, the Plan’s enrollment system to complete your enrollment. You can easily find eBenefits on top of each page of the Plan website at www.shpnc.org.
