This week, media outlets have reported that various anesthesiologists affiliated with American Anesthesiology of North Carolina, the Mednax-affiliated provider of anesthesia, pain management and critical care in the Triangle, will no longer be in-network under UnitedHealthcare.

This does not impact members on the State Health Plan's UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Plans.

As reminder, these plans have a passive network, which means you can see any provider (in-network or out-of-network) that participates in Medicare and accepts Medicare assignment. Your copays or coinsurance stay the same. If you have questions regarding this information, please call UHC at 866-747-1014.
