Primary Care Provider (PCP)

When to Use:  Your Primary Care Provider (PCP) is a central point for the regular medical services you need and treatment for a variety of mild to moderate injuries, illnesses, and conditions.  Having an established PCP helps to ensure that you will have a medical professional that you can trust to help you make decisions about your health care. PCPs provide treatment for:

  • Cold, flu, fever*, earache, sore throat, migraine, nausea, vomiting, mild dehydration, diarrhea, indigestion, mild allergies, infections, and rashes

  • Minor injuries: pain, burns, sprains, strains, cuts, and back pain

  • Regular physicals, prescription refills, vaccinations, and screenings

  • Management of chronic conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, anxiety, and depression

Convienient Care Clinics can be used if you need care for a non-urgent mild to moderate injury or illness, but are unable to get a same-day appointment with your PCP.

*Seek emergency care for fevers above ≥ 104°F.  This may vary for children, so please speak with your pediatrician.
