Strategic Goals 2006-2008

  1. Improve Customer Service
    • Improve the quality of service to our members and key stakeholders through improved communication and services.
    • Set higher standards for ourselves and for vendor performance.
    • Increase oversight and monitoring of performance.
  2. Improve the Health Status of Members
    • Fully engage members in NC HealthSmart, including Worksite Wellness programs, so that they can effectively manage their health and spend their health care dollars wisely.
    • Fully engage employers (agencies, colleges, universities, school systems, local governments, etc.) to support employees in effectively managing their health and making good health care decisions.
  3. Offer Affordable Products and Services while Maintaining Financial Stability
    • Aggressively manage growth in costs via vendor contracts and integrated health management (IHM) programs.
    • Use the State Health Plan's significant purchasing power and strategic partnerships to provide member-driven products at competitive prices.
  4. Build a Strong Foundation
    • Build a strong, effective and efficient organization by providing the structure, resources, staff skills and organizational culture necessary to meet the needs of the State Health Plan.
  5. Develop Capabilities and Capacity
    • Further the interests of the State Health Plan by developing its capabilities and capacity to offer more diversified products to an expanding membership, as defined by the legislature.
    • Collaborate with other health care agencies, organizations and associations in North Carolina to make health care more affordable and more available to citizens of North Carolina.
