Haywood Regional Medical Center Rejoins
the North Carolina State Health Plan Network

Raleigh, N. C. (June 3, 2008) After successfully addressing issues raised by the federal Medicare program, Haywood Regional Medical Center is accepting State Health Plan Indemnity and BCBSNC PPO members.

Haywood Regional provided the State Health Plan and BCBSNC with verification that it meets all Medicare requirements and that the hospital addressed the quality of care issues previously identified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Haywood Regional Medical Center had temporarily suspended its agreement with the North Carolina State Health Plan and BCBSNC to provide care to members while it addressed the concerns raised in the recent inspections by the federal Medicare program.

“The State Health Plan is committed to providing continuous, high-quality care to its members in this community and across the state. We are pleased that Haywood Regional Medical Center and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, the Plan’s contracted claims administrator, have ensured that our members will receive the care they need,” said George C. Stokes, executive administrator of the State Health Plan.
