Mona M. Moon
Chief Financial Officer

Mona M. Moon joined the State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees as chief financial officer in August 2008.

She oversees the Plan’s day-to-day financial operations, including financial services, contracting and compliance and product development. The chief financial officer also advises the executive administrator on forecasting and budgeting.

Before joining the State Health Plan, Moon was chief business operations officer for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Medical Assistance. She also served as principal fiscal analyst for the Fiscal Research Division of the North Carolina General Assembly.

In her more than 19 years of financial management experience, Moon has held a number of other leadership positions in the public and private sectors, including financial manager for Veritas Laboratories, Inc. and corporate controller for Admiral Transportation Services, Inc.

Moon received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
